Rain and Sunsets

Part II!!!

Even when it's pouring like crazy, the sunsets are still absolutely gorgeous =)

Took this pic as it started to drizzle:

Heavy rain can be depressing at times, but the sunsets here at Berkeley make up for it.

Wednesday

Don't like the rain in Berkeley?

Well, I'll have you know that only the rain can make breathtaking sunsets like this... If you don't believe me, you can see raindrops on the window of the first photo (it was just starting to rain) ;)

Tuesday

'Tis the Season for Rainboots and Umbrellas!~

Since it has been rainy and chilly for the past two days, I think now would be the perfect time to tell you about the wonderful (yes, WONDERFUL) weather here in Berkeley!

In general, the weather here is sunny and warm (usually 60-70 degrees) with slight breezes so you never have to worry about layering up like crazy! For the first few weeks of the start of spring semester, the weather was so warm that people could be seen sunbathing and relaxing on Memorial Glade (which is a "field" on campus known for being the perfect spot for napping or playing frisbee).

Occasionally, we do get rainy days here and there, but the weather never bogs me down because there's always fresh hot soup from SF Soup Co. to warm me up! (In fact, I am eating some right now and that is what has inspired me to make this post...) Plus, it's super convenient to get soup because it's only a 3 minute walk from Sproul Plaza, which is kind of like the center of activity on campus.

So yeah, I guess that's Berkeley weather in a nutshell. And being a Chicagoan, I'd have to say that I absolutely LOVE Berkeley weather!!! <3

Oh! and fun fact: rainboots and umbrellas are a fashion trend here at Cal so even when the weather isn't the best, people still look quite fashionable in their rain gear!

Friday

"Sleep"-over at Cal?

Hello night owls and late-night studiers. I am coming to you from the "Beach Room" in Tolman Hall for psychology, on campus, where I will be spending the night. Not that I will be sleeping, because I am participating in a sleep study about sleep deprivation. So I'll be experiencing an interesting side of Cal all night, and contributing to Cal's famous research reputation!
All across campus, there are boards in the hallways presenting flyers for clubs, events, or research opportunities. It was on one of those boards I found the call for this lovely experiment I am now helping out with. There's always so much fun stuff to do here, all you have to do is look around and you'll find a posting for something; a Russian Art Festival, a dance contest, a sleep deprivation study. The possibilities are as diverse as the student population. Whatever floats your boat, you'll find it at Cal.

While I am here in Tolman, sitting on a comfy couch and fighting my oncoming exhaustion, most of my friends are at the on campus hot-spot, the Bear's Lair. The Bear's Lair is the place to be for those students above the tender age of 21. It's a happening place for hardworking
students to unwind and a hub for the glorious Berkeley night-life.

Me, however, I'm contributing to science! Which I thoroughly enjoy doing. While I'm staying up though, I'm gonna take advantage of the extra hours and pull an all-night study session. So until next time, enjoy your comfortable beds... The "Beach Room" is where I'll be...
